Hemp Hand-Made Eco Friendly Sustainable Face Mask
As a result of the pandemic the consumption of hundreds of thousands or even millions of face masks has caused a significant environmental damage, the high number of disposable masks are posing a threat to the environment. The waste is ending up in the ocean, posing a threat to animals that see them as food, eat them and have their digestive tract disrupted resulting in them starving to death. This new pollution is ending up in the sea as people discard them on the streets. This problem is worsening as the pandemic drags on.
If you don’t already have a reusable face mask or are looking for one of eco friendly sustainable fibers, hemp is a good choice. Most surgical masks are synthetic and contain plastic, which is not only bad for the environment, taking hundreds of years for decomposition, but it also prevents the skin from breathing.
Hemp is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics currently available. The plant is naturally resistant to pests and growth requires around 50 percent less water to grow per season than conventional cotton and can grow in a range of soils at high yield.
One of the modern benefits of hemp is that it is an extremely durable plant that doesn't require pesticides or herbicides to grow on an industrial scale. The environmental impacts of pesticides are well-documented. They cause illness, reduce biodiversity and contaminate water supplies, the air and soil.
Hemp fabric is known for aging well and being an all natural eco friendly fabric and allows the skin to breathe, making it a great fabric for a reusable face mask.
If you no longer want to breathe in the micro particles of masks made from synthetics or fibers that used pesticides please consider my handmade eco friendly hemp masks as a safer alternative.
